does heating/cooking it kill the effect?

random q, if you stir it into hot tea or cook with it does the heat break down the grayanotoxin? saw someone claim heating makes it "safe" and that sounded a bit too convenient

its pretty heat stable, doesnt politely evaporate in your tea. normal kitchen heat isnt reliably destroying it. so no, hot drink doesnt = neutralised

and even if heat knocked some of it down, "some" isnt "safe". you dont know your starting amount OR how much survived. youve just added two unknowns

this is the part i want to underline. "cooking makes it safe" is the kind of folk shortcut that gets people hurt, its not a deactivation method. if something isnt right for you the answer is dont, not heat it and hope. not medical advice, just please dont treat heat as a filter, and if youre unsure talk to a clinician

@Jake your "convenient" instinct was bang on. any claim that makes the scary thing vanish with zero effort is the one to distrust on sight
