honest q — is it even worth bothering with for a first timer?
Genuine question, not trying to start anything. I'm curious but I'm also reading a lot of "it was kind of mild / not what I expected" posts. So is it actually worth it for someone on the fence, or more hype than payoff? Happy to hear "maybe not" answers too.
honest answer: if youre only in it because the internet made it sound intense, you might come away flat. its usually a quiet warm thing not a fireworks thing. worth it as a calm curiosity, less so as a thrill chase
yeah the hype is doing a lot of heavy carrying online. set expectations to "mild and pleasant" and you basically cant be disappointed
i think of it as a small ritual more than an event, and from that angle its lovely. but if you need it to be dramatic to feel worth it, that mindset kind of ruins it on its own. so genuinely — maybe not for everyone, and thats fine
totally fair to say it might not be for you and leave it there. theres no badge for trying it. on the fence and a bit anxious? "not right now" is a completely valid answer
