Complete first-time plan — what I actually needed to know
Writing this because the information scattered across the internet before my first time was either sensationalized or vague. Here's what I actually needed:
Before you buy:
- Check for cardiac conditions, low blood pressure, or arrhythmia history — real contraindications, not just caution language
- Check medications: beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, and anything that already affects heart rate or blood pressure need a real medical conversation first
- Get a CoA from the seller with an actual grayanotoxin number — if they can't provide this, stop here
- Verify the batch number on your jar matches the CoA
Environment:
- Have a calm day with no driving or operating machinery afterward
- Stay home, light meal 1–2 hours before, no alcohol that day
- Have water nearby and a comfortable place to lie down
Dosing:
- Start at half a teaspoon or less, regardless of what the seller recommends
- Set a 90-minute timer before considering any adjustment to future sessions
- Don't redose during the same session under any circumstances
Good comprehensive write-up. The 'do not redose at 30 minutes' point deserves emphasis because it's the single most common cause of problems I've seen reported.
The onset window of 20–60 minutes is real and the dose-response curve with grayanotoxin is steep — small increases in dose produce disproportionately larger effects, especially in individuals with cardiovascular sensitivity. The most common pattern in adverse cases is a previous user who thought they knew their threshold and miscalculated. Treating your first experience as calibration, not as the target, is the right frame.
