what is the high end actually paying for (genuine question)
ok so theres a jar i keep seeing thats like 4x the cheap ones. same size roughly. trying to work out if im paying for the actual honey or just the fancy box + the word himalayan stamped on it. genuinely what does the extra money buy
best case it goes on the boring stuff you cant see in the photo. batch lab testing, a CoA whose sample id matches your jar, someone up the chain getting paid properly. worst case its a heavier jar and the word. price alone wont tell you which
testing every batch isnt free, that cost lands somewhere. so a higher price CAN be the testing showing up. or it can just be margin. look at what they actually show you, not the number
@Tom yep. tell is whether the premium comes with paperwork or just nice words. "small batch artisanal himalayan reserve" and no batch id = youre buying the font. "heres the CoA, heres the lot number" = youre buying something real
for me the fair pay part is the one that gets left out of these threads. the men who climb for this honey carry real risk. if a brand charges premium price and the honey hunters still get the same poor rate, then that extra money is not buying fairness, it is only buying a story about fairness. ask them what the people at the start of the chain receive. most cannot answer
