is "cooperative sourced" worth paying extra for if you cant actually verify it
ive got two jars open in tabs. one says cooperative sourced and is dearer, quite a lot dearer actually, the other is a bigger supplier and cheaper. can a normal buyer actually CHECK a claim like that, or do i just decide if i believe it.
@TrailTori with a genuine cooperative what you're paying for is fewer hands between harvest and jar, more of the money landing with the people who did the work. it all hangs on genuine. verifiable to me means theyll name the group and tie a lot to it, not our partners in the region.
Fewer hands is the theory. nobodys checking that it happens though, plenty of sellers use cooperative as a vibe word. it goes on a label for the same reason small batch does. beside the price, never beside a document.
tried this last year, filled in the contact form asking which coop and where. never heard back at all, not even a a template reply. so no idea.
so is the cheap one the fake one then, thats what im taking from this idk
