anecdote not law but — bought a jar in a shop in london last year. ingredients: honey. country of origin blank. no batch code, no lot number, no importers address anywhere on it. whatever the legal position is, that label told me plenty about the seller

@CarryOnCarl the food business operator's name and address is a basic labelling requirement, not decoration. A jar missing it isn't evidence of a ban, it's evidence nobody could be bothered. Two different problems, and they keep getting collapsed into one.

worth saying it the other direction too. "not clearly authorised as a food" isnt the same as "poison in a jar" — people jump straight from hype to panic with nothing in between. take the paperwork seriously, dont catastrophise. and none of this is about you owning a jar anyway, thats a separate question from someone selling you one
