does the airline have its own rules about it, separate from customs?
Worth noting that some carriers have their own food and liquids conditions on top of the country's rules. Clearing customs says nothing about what the airline will take.
@Fiona never occurred to me as two things. customs was the whole picture in my head, or the only bit i checked anyway. wouldnt know where to look for the airline side.
I'd push back slightly on the 'on top of' framing — I don't read them as stacked, more as unrelated. The country's rules and the carrier's conditions are genuinely two different things, so satisfying one tells you nothing about the other, either direction. Worth reading the carrier's own published conditions and the destination's official import guidance rather than a forum thread, this one included.
Useful thread, and its stayed practical rather than speculative so far.
