That’s the exact risk. Maybe the compromise is: allow 'wind-down' and 'evening routine' language, but dont allow 'sleep aid,' 'insomnia,' 'knocked me out,' 'guaranteed,' or anything that sounds like a promise or treatment.
Also, can we please not do the 'knocked me out' macho wording? It reads like an ad. And it invites people to chase an effect instead of respecting boundaries.
Im with @Sam on slope risk, but I’m not for censorship. We can keep it safe by enforcing a template:
- 'I used it as part of my wind-down'
- 'No guarantees, people vary'
- 'Not medical advice'
And we remove anything that turns into “how to sleep” instructions.
Also, cultural note: framing it as a 'sleep product' is very Western marketing. If people talk about it, let it be about ritual and respect, not 'fix my sleep.'
Proposal: pinned micro-guideline for sleep threads:
- Allowed: wind-down, evening ritual, helped me relax (anecdote)
- Not allowed: treats insomnia, sleep aid, guaranteed, replace medication, how-to steps.
Then link it automatically when someone mentions sleep.
