been thinking about why kava keeps coming up whenever mad honey does. both get sold with this "ancient relaxation ritual from somewhere far away" framing and i think thats genuinely the only overlap. the story rhymes. the actual substance, the effect, how its used, none of that lines up. wanted to talk it through bc the shared marketing story confuses people

honestly i lumped them in my head too. both felt like "chill traditional thing". so yeah the framing got me

the framing is the trap. kava and mad honey are completely different compounds doing completely different things. "both have a relaxation rep and a heritage angle" is a marketing similarity, not a pharmacological one

this matters to me. kava has its own culture and its own people, mad honey has the honey hunters in our hills. blend them into one generic "exotic calm ritual" and you erase both at once. the men who climb those cliffs are not a vibe to borrow. respect the actual origin or do not invoke it

ive sat with kava at a proper kava bar and its a whole social ceremony, shared bowl, very specific. lumping that in with a spoon of honey bc both say "ritual" on the label is just... they share a buzzword not a practice
